Daviess County High School Alumni and Friends are excited to present a celebration of 100 years of excellence at Daviess County High School. This Centennial Celebration will be hosted at The Hines Center August 29, 2015, with many graduates, staff and friends of DCHS.
Not only are we celebrating the long tradition of excellence at Daviess County, but also kicking-off a major fundraising campaign for the students, faculty and staff.
The State of Kentucky has reduced funding for our school system by nearly ten million dollars over the past seven years; because of this, the school has had to scramble to find funds to put text books in each child’s hand, provide quality desks and chairs in classrooms, supply financial aid to students for Advanced Placement testing, and cover the costs of instruments for performing arts.
Our athletic programs are in need as well. Reid Stadium – built in 1958 – still houses the same field and tired stadium seating. We are a state-classified, 6A school, the largest category of high schools in Kentucky. In comparison to other schools of the same size and competition level, DCHS is far short of other modern facilities.
With so much to take pride in – over 20 athletic activities, an award winning academic team, more than 20 Advanced Placement courses, early college enrollment opportunities, a renowned fine arts program, and one of the most complete Art Education curriculums in the state – it is imperative that we have the community’s support in maintaining Daviess County’s status as one of the finest High Schools in Kentucky.
Tickets are $25 each or $250 for a reserved table of eight.
